Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and President and CEO of World Wildlife Fund in the United States, Carter Roberts have launched the World Wildlife Fund, WWF-Bhutan’s Strategic Plan 2025-2029. It was launched in the capital yesterday. The strategic plan aims to deliver USD 30 million for the conservation of the environment and sustainable development over the next five years in Bhutan.

Initially launched with a team of DeSuups in 2022, the Druk Arachis peanut processing unit at Doksum in Trashi Yangtse now sees only one man as its solitary operator after his companions left for newer opportunities. In addition, the lack of demand for his products is affecting in scaling up production. After the unit was established, the production of peanut among farmers in Khamdang Gewog has doubled.

After missing several deadlines, the new integrated vegetable market in Samdrup Jongkhar Thromde is finally complete. The thromde plans to open the new integrated vegetable market by end of this month. It will offer a conducive and comfortable space for vegetable vendors and customers. Until now, the vendors have been operating from the old temporary vegetable shed.

After a Nu 7 M irrigation water project at Gumina_Tenchhukha in Chhukha’s Maedtekha Gewog failed, people in the village have not been able to do large scale agricultural work. People said without enough irrigation water, they are not able to grow vegetables for commercial purposes, which would otherwise be a good source of income.
