All is not well with the Dzongkha newspapers in the country. Despite being the national language, its publications do not attract much readership. The other downside of the papers is getting scarce advertisements from the government, corporations and the private sector. This has forced four of the five private Dzongkha papers to close down.

The Punatsangchhu Hydroelectric Project Authority-I (PHPA-I)'s recent decision to downsize its manpower and the action thereof is now backfiring. Employees who are asked to leave the project are now accusing the management of unfair practices. They claim that the management has neither followed their own circular nor the report by the independent external committee. They said they will report the matter to the ACC if the management fails to reassess the retrenchment.

The 40-bedded Paro district hospital was built more than two decades ago and since then, the hospital hasn’t seen any upgradation, in terms of infrastructure and services. Today, with the population increasing in the district, the hospital remains overcrowded with patients every day. The need for upgradation was discussed during the recent Dzongkhag Tshogdu.

The Early Childhood Care & Development or ECCD centre in Jangchubling in Chhudzom Gewog of Srapang is without a facilitator since the beginning of this year. The centre, established in 2018, has helped the residents in taking care of and preparing their children for formal education. They are now waiting for a new facilitator to resume the task.
